The Vesica Piscis (Latin for "bladder of a fish") is one of the most profound and fundamental shapes in Sacred Geometry. Formed by the intersection of two circles of the same radius—where the Center of each Circle lies perfectly on the Circumference of the other—it visually represents the primordial division of Unity into Duality. It is the Ultimate Geometric Bridge between the Spiritual and Material worlds.
The Divine Intersection: The two circles represent polar or opposing Cosmic forces—Spirit and Matter, Heaven and Earth, the Macrocosm and the Microcosm. The overlapping, almond-shaped Center (the Vesica) is the sacred space of Creation where these realms intersect and harmonize, Creating the gateway for the Divine to enter the physical plane.
The Womb of Creation: In esoteric tradition, it is considered the "Womb of the Universe" or the Divine Mother principle. It is the Cosmic portal from which all physical manifestation, including the Solar Logos (the Cosmic Christ), is birthed into existence.
The Blueprint of Sacred Geometry: The Vesica Piscis is the mathematical foundation for all subsequent sacred forms. By drawing straight lines within this single shape, one can flawlessly derive the Superior Triangle, the Square, and the Pentagram. The Mandorla and the Eye: Visually, it forms the shape of a human eye—often associated with the All-Seeing Eye or the Eye of the Spirit—symbolizing Divine Omniscience and Spiritual Awakening. In classical occultism and religious art, it is seen as the mandorla (an aura of Light) surrounding the figures of Adepts or the Christos, denoting their presence within the radiant threshold between worlds.
