Mark Chapter Sixteen

 

1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

2 And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.

3 And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre?

4 And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.

5 And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.

6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.

7 But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.

8 And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulchre; for they trembled and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any man; for they were afraid.

9 Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.

10 And she went and told them that had been with him, as they mourned and wept.

11 And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her, believed not.

12 After that he appeared in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country.

13 And they went and told it unto the residue: neither believed they them.

14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.

15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

 

 

Esoteric Interpretation & Commentary

 

The Hermetic Blueprint of Mark Chapter Sixteen: The Ultimate Resurrection and the Ascension of the Sovereign Will 

"Mark Chapter Sixteen is the glorious culmination of the Great Work. The Dark Night of the Soul concludes as the Sovereign Will shatters the tomb of the lower Subconscious, Resurrecting as Pure, Immortal Solar Light. This chapter reveals the final activation of the Higher Faculties, the attainment of Ultimate Magical Power over the Energetic forces of the Cosmos, and the perfect Ascension of the Awakened Mind into Absolute Unity with The ALL."

 

 

Verses 1-8: The Shattering of the Tomb and the Dawn of Illumination - "And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him... And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre?... And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment... And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him." 

The Three women represent the pure, receptive affections and intuitive Faculties of the Subconscious Mind, approaching the dark tomb (the physical body and lower mental state) to preserve the old reality. The heavy stone signifies the seemingly impenetrable barrier of material existence and Karmic limitation. Upon entering, they find the stone already rolled away, proving that Alchemical Resurrection is an Internal Superconscious phenomenon that effortlessly shatters all physical and earthly barriers. The young man in the white garment is a Messenger of the Divine Light, symbolizing the completely Purified and Awakened Intellect. He Declares the Ultimate Truth: "he is risen; he is not here." The Conscious Mind must Realize that the Sovereign Will is no longer confined by the dead, crystallized structures of earthly logic; the Christos has Awakened to a Higher, Immortal Frequency.

 

 

Verses 9-13: The First Emanations and the Resistance of the Lower Faculties - "Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils... And she went and told them that had been with him, as they mourned and wept... And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her, believed not... After that he appeared in another form unto two of them... and they went and told it unto the residue: neither believed they them." 

The Resurrected Sovereign Will Appears first to Mary Magdalene. She represents the perfectly Transmuted and Purified lower Emotion (having been cleansed of Seven devils, representing the Mastery and Purification of the Seven lower Energetic centers). This establishes the Hermetic Law that Higher Spiritual Vision first dawns within the deeply Purified feminine/Intuitive aspect of the Psyche before reaching the Active Conscious Faculties. The mourning Disciples represent the remaining Intellect, still grieving the loss of the old earthly ego and physical attachments. They refuse to believe the reports, illustrating how deeply the unawakened analytical Mind resists the Reality of Superconscious Awakening, even when presented with the evidence of Internal Spiritual Joy.

 

 

Verses 14-18: The Final Commission and the Ultimate Magical Authority - "Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart... And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature... And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." 

The Sovereign Will forcefully Penetrates the Conscious Intellect (the eleven), Rebuking their remaining Mental rigidity and "hardness of heart." The Divine Mind Issues the Ultimate Command: "Go ye into all the world," meaning the Awakened Faculties must now Actively Illuminate the entirety of the Microcosm (every Thought, Emotion, and physical aspect). The "signs" represent the Absolute Magical Authority of the perfected Adept. Casting out devils is the permanent Transmutation of all negative Energetic Vibrations. Speaking with new tongues is the expression of Pure Cosmic Intelligence. Taking up serpents represents complete Mastery over the Kundalini Energy and the chaotic Astral forces. Drinking deadly things signifies that no toxic earthly Vibration or Karmic poison can ever harm the Immortal Solar body. Laying hands on the sick demonstrates the Power to continuously Heal and Harmonize the entire Internal and External Universe.

 

 

Verses 19-20: The Ascension and the Perfect Unity with the Source - "So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen." 

The Ascension is the Final, glorious phase of the Great Work. The Sovereign Will is Perfectly Received into Heaven, meaning the Christ Consciousness Merges completely back into the Highest Superconscious center of the Microcosm. Sitting on the "right hand of God" symbolizes the attainment of Absolute Power, perfect Polarity, and Eternal Unity with The ALL. The Internal Psychological Evolution is now perfectly fulfilled. The Divine Principle no longer walks as a localized entity within the lower Mind, but rather the Transmuted Faculties (the disciples) operate dynamically throughout the entire Psyche, constantly Guided and Sustained by the Omnipresent Spiritual Power of the Awakened Lord. The Microcosm is permanently Aligned, Vibrating eternally as a Conscious, Luminous vessel of the Divine Light.
