God is ALL in All
This is a Philosophical and Spiritual endeavor to extract, Harmonize, and synthesize the Universal Truths underlying the world's Diverse Religious, Mystical, and Philosophical traditions. Most famously associated with the concept of Perennial Philosophy, it posits that All Major Traditions share a single, transcendent metaphysical Source and Core Set of Truths.
"By the Power of Truth, I, while Living, have Conquered the Universe."
"I Am Nothing, yet I Am Everything."
Genesis Chapter Fifteen
1 After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.
2 And Abram said, Lord God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?
3 And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.
4 And, behold, the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.
5 And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.
6 And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
7 And he said unto him, I am the Lord that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.
8 And he said, Lord God, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?
9 And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.
10 And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not.
11 And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away.
12 And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.
13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.
15 And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.
16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.
17 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.
18 In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:
19 The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,
20 And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,
21 And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.
Esoteric Interpretation & Commentary
The Hermetic Blueprint of Genesis: The Alchemical Crucible and the Furnace of Transmutation
"Having proven his Spiritual Discipline by rejecting the material wealth of Sodom, Abram is now ready for a deeper Alchemical initiation. Genesis Chapter Fifteen shifts entirely away from physical geography and moves into a Profound, Visionary Trance State. In Hermeticism, the 'Covenant' established here is the permanent binding of the localized Spiritual Will to the Universal Divine Mind. It illustrates the intense Psychological preparation required for the Soul's upcoming, necessary descent into the deepest density of the material plane, and introduces the 'smoking furnace'—the ultimate symbol of the physical body as an alchemical crucible."
Verses 1-6: The Inner Heir and the Macrocosmic Vision - "Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward... Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars..."
The chapter opens with the Divine Mind reassuring the Spiritual Will (Abram). Abram is concerned that he has no biological heir, meaning his Spiritual lineage might die out, leaving his Inner Kingdom to be inherited by a "servant" (a lesser, unrefined faculty of the Mind). The Infinite Mind brings him outside to look at the stars, directly invoking the Hermetic Law of Correspondence (As Above, So Below). The promise is that the Awakened Spiritual Consciousness will multiply until it is as vast and luminous as the macrocosmic heavens. Verse 6 states, "And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness." Esoterically, "belief" here is not blind religious faith; it is Absolute Alchemical Certainty. It is the Will Perfectly Aligning with Cosmic Law, which instantly produces Spiritual equilibrium (Righteousness).
Verses 7-11: The Division of the Lower Nature and the Parasitic Thoughts - "And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat... and divided them in the midst..."
Abram asks for a physical sign of this promise, and he is instructed to perform an ancient Alchemical rite. The animals listed (heifer, goat, ram) represent the various heavy, instinctual, and earthly aspects of the human Psyche. "Dividing them in the midst" is the Alchemical process of Separatio—Consciously identifying and separating the conflicting dualities of the lower nature to create a clear, unobstructed path for Divine Light to pass through. Verse 11 is critically important for the Meditative Seeker: "And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away." The birds of prey represent parasitic, distracting, and base Thoughts that attempt to feed on the lower nature during deep meditation. The Adept must Actively and Consciously drive them away to protect the sacred work.
Verses 12-16: The Deep Sleep and the Prophecy of Involution - "And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him."
As the external light (the Sun) fades, Abram is pulled into the Deepest Subconscious State. The "horror of great darkness" is the Dark Night of the Soul, the profound weight of the abyss. Here, the Divine Mind reveals the exact Karmic trajectory of the human Soul. The prophecy that his seed shall be a "stranger in a land that is not theirs" and serve them for four hundred years is the Cosmic blueprint of Involution. It is the Understanding that the Pure Spiritual Essence must fully descend into the harsh, confining matrix of the physical world (Egypt) to be tested, afflicted, and refined. It cannot ascend back to its origin until it has gathered the "great substance" of Lived physical experience and Mastered the material realm.
Verses 17-21: The Smoking Furnace, the Burning Lamp, and the Final Seal - "And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces."
This is the climax of the chapter and a Pure Alchemical Vision. The "smoking furnace" represents the dense physical body (the crucible) undergoing intense internal friction and Purification. The "burning lamp" is the Immortal Divine Spark (the Spiritus). Together, they pass precisely through the Center of the divided lower animal nature. This is the Divine Fire Actively Transmuting the heavy elements of the Psyche. This act permanently seals the covenant, guaranteeing that the Enlightened Mind will eventually Achieve Total Dominion over the entire "land"—meaning the Complete and Perfect Mastery of Every Internal Faculty, from the lowest material instinct (the river of Egypt) to the Highest Intellectual Power (the river Euphrates).
